Screening Room Theater
The Hotel deLuxe’s Sunday Movie Night takes place the third Sunday of each month (with the occasional exception) and will mostly feature films and shorts created by local and regional filmmakers. The Screening Room, located off the hotel lobby, opens at 6 p.m., the movie begins at 6:30 p.m. with free admission. A no-host food and beverage menu provided by the adjacent Gracie’s Restaurant and Driftwood Room will be available. RSVP to 503.219.2093. This is War: Memories of Iraq
Filmmaker: Gary Mortensen
A video diary about the experiences of an Oregon National Guard battalion sent to Iraq for a year in 2004, This Is War is divided into short chapters that bring home multiple aspects of a difficult and dangerous mission. Beginning with the troops emotionally preparing for a half-year’s combat training and gradually acclimating to Iraq’s tremendous heat, the film traces a gradual awareness of day-to-day realities and responsibilities where the enemy is often unseen.
The film is graphic, not suitable for viewing by children or anyone sensitive to the realities of war.

Rooftop Movies
Portland’s own Northwest Film Center (www.nwfilm.org)curates a rooftop film festival featuring warm starry nights of entertaining films, culinary treats, a little live music and spectacular city views on the panoramic parking rooftop of the Hotel deLuxe.
The evenings begin at 8 p.m. with live music and refreshments. Gracie’s Restaurant will offer easy-to-juggle meals, snacks and cocktails. The movies begin at dusk – around 9 p.m. depending on the light. Feel free to bring your favorite portable chair or blanket (we do have first come, first serve seating), but please, no pets or outside food and drink. There is no need to RSVP, just show up!
